EFFINGHAM —
The Hearts were well represented on the 2012-13 All-Apollo Conference team, as a trio earned top honors.
Point guard Hunter Keith was named to the squad after directing the Hearts to a 9-1 record in league play. The consummate leader scored over eight points per game for Effingham, and also added more than six rebounds.
Classmate Jake Stombaugh earned a spot on the team as well, as Effingham captured its first conference title since 2004 and advanced to the Centralia Regional final. The do-it-all scorer dropped eight points a contest, and led the team in blocks. Stombaugh crashed the glass for an average of four rebounds per game.
Junior wing Leighton Lark was the last selection from Effingham. The lengthy scorer was a persistent threat on offense slashing to the lane, chipping in with 8.4 points per game. Lark also altered plenty of shots on the other end of the floor, helping lead to his 3.5 rebound average. A complete player, Lark dished out more than two assists each time he stepped on the floor.
