St. Anthony falls to Maryville Christian

EFFINGHAM — Laura Gurtner scored seven points and went 3-for-4 in free throws, but the St. Anthony Lady Bullpups fell to Maryville Christian 33-26 in the Class 8-1A sectional championship game Wednesday.

Jenna Woltman and Abbie Schmidt added six points apiece while Kristin Slaughter added five of her own. Mary Ann Saba had two points.

Suze Jezek had 10 points for Maryville Christian and Makenzie Silvey had 13.

North Clay defeats Clay City

CLAY CITY - Lawson Britton scored 17 points and went 4-for-4 in free throws to help lead the North Clay Cardinals over Clay City Tuesday.

Logan Hilderbrand added 13 points while Nathan Micklautz scored 10.

North Clay will be back in action Friday at Waltonville.

Stew-Stras falls to Arcola

STEWARDSON - Justin Fulk scored 17 points Tuesday, but the Comets fell to Arcola 49-47.

Brandon Helmuth scored nine points, while Jason Becker added seven.

Kollin Seaman scored 12 for Arcola while Nick Hudson and Wyatt Fischel added seven apiece.

The Comets will have a small break before traveling to Okaw Valley Tuesday.

Altamont routs Windsor

ALTAMONT - Ryan Mayhaus scored 19 points and Jake Seidel scored 10 points to help lead Altamont over Windsor Wednesday 70-39.

Tristan Warner scored 14 points for the Blue Devils and went 4-for-6 in free throw attempts.

Altamont will play at South Central Friday while Windsor will host Brownstown.

CISNE - Kortney Stanfield and Morgan Walker combined for 32 points and led the North Clay Lady Cardinals past Cisne 61-32.

Rachel smith added eight points while Carleigh Yeager added six of her own.
