Frieda Thompson

Frieda A. Dawkins Thompson, 88, homemaker, died at 6:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Flora Health Care Center, Flora.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with burial in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Louisville Fire Department First Responders or to the donor’s choice.

Ronald Ahten

Altamont

Ronald Lee Ahten, 70, of Altamont, retired carpenter who worked for Overhead Door Company, Decatur, and who served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Oakland Manor Nursing Home, Giddings, Texas.

A memorial service was held Jan. 16, 2008, at Marr-Jones-Newby Funeral Home, Bastrop, Texas. Memorials may be made to First National Bank, Bastrop, Texas.

Newton

Melba Wilson, age 88, of Newton passed away at 11:05 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. Ron Linder officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newton. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
