Donald Phillips

Toledo

Donald E. Phillips, 80, of Toledo, World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy and who worked for Illinois Central Railroad for 42 years, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at home.

A memorial service with military rites will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.



Dr. Eugene Raney

Sarasota, Fla.

Dr. Eugene H. Raney, 80, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away Tuesday evening, Oct. 16, 2007, at Evergreen Nursing Home in Shawano, Wis., with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 North Superior St., Appleton, Wis. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 2 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Effingham, Monday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene’s name can be made to Heartland Hospice or a charity of donor’s choice. Nathan Clutter, 26, of Phoenix, formerly of Danville, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in Amarillo, Texas.

Services were held Thursday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Danville, with the Rev. Ted Pracz officiating. Burial was in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Danville. Irma Pellizzaro Zupan, 84, of Godfrey died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Alton.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lesicko Funeral Home, Livingston, with the Rev. George Radosevich officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Livingston. Doris Jean Cameron, 78, of Mattoon, formerly of Neoga, died at 5:40 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.

Steven J. Pals, 57, of Effingham, entered into eternal rest at 10:27 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at M.A. Neal Funeral Home, Effingham, with no burial at this time. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Effingham County FISH Human Services or Catholic Charities.

Roland R. “Ron” Welsh, 70, of Oblong, who taught high school for 33 years and coached, died at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Robinson, with the Rev. William Overmann and the Rev. Jeff Goeckner officiating. Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong. Memorials may be made to Oblong Sports Boosters with envelopes available at the funeral home and the church. Dennis L. Burton, 54, of rural Watson died at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at home.
