Area towns awarded large grants for enhancement projects

EFFINGHAM — Shelbyville, Dieterich, Newton and Effingham are among the towns to receive  Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program funds.

Of the nearly $50 million awarded to state municipalities, Effingham will receive $251,670 for Calico Trail East, Newton will receive $980,320 for phase 3 of Eagle Trails project and Dieterich is slated to get $465,460 for Main Street enhancement project.

Shelbyville will receive $1,041,630 for phases 5 and 6 of Main Street Streetscape Improvement project along Illinois 16.
