EFFINGHAM —
Three Effingham residents were jailed after police found items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine in a home several blocks north of downtown Effingham.
Kyle W. Sinkler, 22, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing. Also arrested was Storey M. Woodruff, 23, on suspicion of meth-manufacturing materials; and Kimberly S. Sinkler, 45, on suspicion of possession of meth precursors.
All three remained in Effingham County Jail Friday evening, pending an expected bond hearing Saturday. They are also expected to appear in court sometime Monday for a probable cause hearing to determine whether their detention should continue.
Det. Tony Stephens of the Effingham Police Department could not say whether the Sinklers were related. Nor could he discuss any relationship between Woodruff and the other two defendants.
The trio was arrested after police found numerous items used to "cook" meth while executing a search warrant Friday morning.
"There's quite a bit of stuff," Stephens said. "Everything you need to cook meth was there."
Stephens would not disclose specific items found during the search.
Stephens said his department and the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force executed the warrant at about 6 a.m. Friday, with assistance from the Illinois State Police Tactical Team and the ISP's Meth Response Team. He said the arrests came after an investigation that lasted several months.
"We'd been working on it for a while," Stephens said.
Stephens said he hadn't determined whether any finished meth was seized during the raid. He did say, however, that no weapons were recovered.
Effingham City-County Ambulance and Effingham Fire Department were on the scene as a precautionary measure.
