Effingham man found dead in apartment

EFFINGHAM — An Effingham man found dead in his apartment Monday succumbed to natural causes, authorties believe.

Dickie Kelly, 56, was pronounced dead Monday afternoon in his apartment at 208 W. National. Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey said a neighbor had found Kelly unresponsive in his apartment.

Guffey said preliminary findings show that Kelly likely died from natural causes. No foul play is suspected.

Effingham city police and the coroner's office continue to investigate, Guffey said.
