EFFINGHAM —
Anna Mary Majors, 81, of Effingham, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with the Rev. Don Wolford officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, March 6. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be left at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com.
She was born Sept. 18, 1931, in Decatur, to Alice Vance Wiles and Luther J. Wiles. She married Robert Vincent Majors on Nov. 11, 1949, in Decatur. She retired after many years of service from State of Illinois Mental Health.
She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile and her love of flowers and Florida. Our family gratefully acknowledges Faye Miller and the wonderful staff at Glenwood Assisted Living in Effingham for their loving care and compassion and acknowledge, Dr. Sean Flynn and staff for their care, compassion and concern.
She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Peggy Jo Ross of Warrensburg; sons, Michael Robert Majors of Beecher City and Curt Steven Majors (Dr. Andrew J. Dauer) of Windermere, Fla.; sister, Janet Kay Amos (Edward) of Dunnellon, Fla.; grandchildren, Robert Anthony “Tony” Majors (Jaida) of Vandalia, Carrie Ann Burks (Jacob Shane) of Beecher City, Matthew Brian Majors (Courtney) of Mattoon, Christie Lynn Gibrich (Christopher) of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Scott Alan Ross of Peoria; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Carsen Burks, Evan Majors, Erika Blackwell and Max Dominic Majors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vincent Majors; parents, Alice F. and William A. Schirmer; brother, Rodger Dean Wiles; best friend, Dorothy Mae Hopkins; and special children, Nancy Diann Majors and Ronald Lee Ross.
