Dan Wesley Shamhart, 60, of Mason, passed away at 12:17 a.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Blake-Wright Funeral Home, Dieterich, with Jeff Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Bailey Cemetery, near Latona. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In loving memory of Dan, memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.blakefh.com.
Dan was born on Jan. 9, 1953, in Decatur, the son of Perry and Gerlene (Lewis) Shamhart. He married Sharon Kay Myers on Aug. 4, 1989. Dan was a truck driver for Rural King. He was a member of the Harvest Methodist Union Church, Mason. He enjoyed deer hunting, gun shoots and showing his 1938 IH Farmall F-20 at Prairie Days at Bible Grove.
Dan is survived by wife of 23 years, Sharon Shamhart of Mason; three children, Danette (Travis) Jewell of Ooltewah, Tenn., Marine serviceman Kevin Christy, stationed in Japan, and Jamie Christy of Altamont; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Lester (Doloris) Shamhart of Wheeler, and Clyde (Evelyn) Shamhart of Beecher City; two sisters, Shirley (Ronnie) Allen of Mason, and Kathy (Pat) Hahn of Altamont.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Merl and Burl Shamhart; and sister, Vickie Shamhart.
