SUGAR LAND, Texas —
Patricia Delores Cooley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in Sugar Land, Texas.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at Bradshaw-Carter Home, 1734 West Alabama St., Houston, Texas. The family will receive friends for a visitation two hours prior to the service at the home. Burial will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
Pat was born in Mt. Olive on April 15, 1938, and spent her formative years in Mt. Olive, where she was active in virtually all facets of school activities, but had a particularly strong interest in vocal and instrumental music and was awarded a scholarship to attend Eastern Illinois University. While at Eastern, Pat was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and was a member of various choral and instrumental groups. Pat received her B.S. degree in music education in 1961 with a major in vocal performance. Pat was a highly respected music educator and taught in numerous school districts in the states of Illinois and Texas, as well as a brief stint in Saudi Arabia. The family is most grateful for the care Pat received for the past eleven months at the Barton House in Sugar Land.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Cooley, Jr.; daughter, Cynthia L. (Cindy) Young and husband, Chris; son, John E. Cooley, III (Jay); grandchildren, Conner E. Young and Callie A. Young; sisters, Mary Ann Jakovich and husband, Frank, Theresa Abercrombie and husband, Bart; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John I. Gorsich and Mary B. Chilovich Gorsich; and four brothers, Bernard Gorsich, Raymond Gorsich, Gene Gorsich, and Charles Gorsich.
