WILLOW HILL —
Earl Eugene Yockey, 82, of Willow Hill, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services celebrating Earl's life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. Jack Kilburn officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, east of Willow Hill, with full military rites by the Ste. Marie American Legion Post 932. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 12, at the funeral home. In loving memory of Earl, memorials may be made to the Willow Hill United Methodist Church. Earl was born on Jan. 1, 1931, in Jasper County, the son of Emma (Miller) Yockey White and Berlyn Yockey. He was united in marriage to Martha Laura Eubank on June 5, 1955, at the Willow Hill United Methodist Church.
Earl was a graduate of Oblong High School. He was a United States Army veteran, serving his country in the Korean War.
Earl spent most of his life as a farmer in Jasper County. He was a member of Willow Hill United Methodist Church, and he served as a trustee of Willow Hill Township for 20 years. He was a former Jasper County Farm Bureau Board member; a member of the Willow Hill Community Club; and in 1971, he became a member of the Dekalb "200 Bushel Club" for raising more than 200 bushels of corn per acre.
Earl is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Yockey of Willow Hill; a son, Bradley E. (Catherine S.) Yockey of Olney; daughters, Natalie Puntney of Bridgeport and Melanie (Matt) Polston of Lawrenceville; six grandsons, Brandon Yockey, Courtney (Rachel) Yockey, Noah Puntney, Kelly (Molly) Blade, Chauncey Blade and Wyatt Polston; brothers, Warren Yockey of Olney, Floyd (Mildred) Yockey of Schererville, Ind., and Berlyn (Guyla) Yockey of Willow Hill; and sister, Mary (Bob) Wolfert of Bradley.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marisa Yockey; and a brother, Wayne Yockey.
