Marguerite Abraham, 92, of Shumway, formerly of Willow Hill, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Congregational Christian Church, rural Willow Hill. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Barkley Funeral Chapel, Greenup, is assisting the family with arrangements. Marguerite was born on Nov. 3, 1920, to Claude and Mabel (Barkley) Byrd. At the age of 20, she married her friend and neighbor, Quentin Wilson Abraham, on Oct. 26, 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1979. Quentin and Marguerite settled near Willow Hill, where they were active members of Bethany Christian Church. Marguerite was a licensed beautician who also enjoyed gardening, travel and crafts.
Surviving is a daughter Sue (Harold) Heth of Shumway; a son Randy (Julie) Abraham of San Francisco, CA,; Daughter in law Kathleen Abraham of Dayton OH; Grandchildren Pam (Steve) Hambleton, Tami LeValley, Andrew (Jody) Tully, Katie Cates, Nicole (Brett) Nuermberger, Jon (Krystle) Greider, Joey Heth, Kiley Heth, Emily Abraham, Mark Heth and James Abraham; 8 Great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Quentin Duane Abraham in 2006, a sister Mildred Lucas a Brother Ron Byrd, grandchildren Sonja Greider, Phillip Greider and Michael Abraham and one great-grandchild.
After Quentin passed away, Marguerite spent winters in Arizona with her son, Randy, and later with her elementary school classmate from many years before, Aleta Higgins. As her health became guarded, Marguerite lived near Effingham for 12 years with her daughter and family. The family appreciates the loving care that Sue's husband Harold provided for her.
