EFFINGHAM —
Larry C. Ellis, 89, of Effingham, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, with the Rev. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Rentfro Cemetery, Shumway. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday with Masonic rites at 10:30 a.m conducted by the Edgewood Masonic Lodge 484 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Larry was born on Jan. 22, 1923, in Minden, La., the son of Herman B. and Maggie L. (Ambrose) Ellis. He married Ethel Adams in Chicago in 1946 and she preceded him in death on July 13, 1990.
Larry was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was a member of the Ashlar Masonic Lodge 308 in Chicago. After 45 years, he retired as a foreman from ITT Manufacturing Co. in Chicago. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and also was an "electronic tinkerer."
Larry is survived by his son, Richard Dale Ellis of Effingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel; and brother, Jack.
