EFFINGHAM —
Jean G. Hubbard, 90, of Effingham, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham, with the Rev. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park, rural Effingham, at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church Building Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Jean was born on Dec. 11, 1922, in Memphis, Tenn., the daughter of William J. and Leta (Monroe) Gallagher. She married John Wesley Hubbard on June 11, 1948, in Memphis, Tenn., and he preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2009. Jean worked as an assistant clerk in the Criminal Courts Building in Memphis, Tenn., from 1944-48, Helen Matthes Library in Effingham from 1967-77, and was also employed at J.C. Penney in Effingham from 1977-87. She was a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham.
Jean is survived by her sons, John Hubbard of Dallas, Jim Hubbard of Effingham, and Jerry (Barb) Hubbard of Edgewood, Wash.; grandchildren, Julia (Matt) Poulter of Liberty, Jacob (Ashley) Hubbard and John (Leslie) Hubbard, all of Puyallup, Wash.; stepgrandchildren, Robert Woll of Lakewood, Wash., and Jennifer Woll of Kellog, Idaho; and great-grandchildren, Dylan Hubbard and Jordan Hubbard, both of Quincy, and Nathan Poulter and Nicholas Poulter, both of Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wesley; brother, William J. Gallagher Jr.; and grandson, Jeremy Hubbard.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeland Health Care Center for the kind and compassionate care shown to her the past few years.
