EFFINGHAM —
Richard L. Vail, 73, of Effingham died at 11:53 a.m., Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, with the Rev. Robert Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Point Baptist Church Cemetery, Shumway. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and online condolences may be left at www.giesekingfh.com.
Mr. Vail was born on Sept. 18, 1939, in Michigan to Walter W. and Jesse E. (Workman) Vail. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was retired as an over-the-road truck driver for Putnam Trucking, Effingham. He was a member of the American Legion, Effingham.
He is survived by his son, Les Vail of Kilgore, Texas; daughters, Pam (Dan) LeCrone of Altamont, Ann (Kent) Bushue of Effingham; brothers, Robert (Eda Belle) Vail of Houston, Ariz., Ralph (Florence) Vail of Effingham, Kenneth (Pauline) Vail of Altamont, Gary (Jane) Vail of Charlotte, N.C., Darrell Vail of Altamont; sisters, Virginia (Dale) Holland of Effingham, Evea (Art) Davidson of Altamont, Mary Kienietz, Clifton of Colorado, and Lois (Jim) Smith of O’Fallon; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Vail.
