SALEM —
Louise Hampsten, 89, of Salem, formerly of Kinmundy, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, in Salem at the home of her daughter.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, with burial in Pratt Cemetery, west of Patoka. Brother Josh Conley will officiate at the services. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Kinmundy Christian Church/TIP Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.jwnealfuneralhome.net.
Mrs. Hampsten was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Marion County, the daughter of Luther and Rachel M. (Sheperd) Barnes. She married Virgil L. Hampsten on Oct. 21, 1941, in St. Charles, Mo.
She was a member of Kinmundy Christian Church and was a retired machine operator for Brown Shoe Co., Salem.
Surviving are her son, Dennis (Sue) Hampsten of Flora; daughter, Brenda (David) Wilson of Salem; brother, Ralph (Dorothy) Barnes of Salem; sister, Gladys Laux (Wilson) of Carlyle; sisters-in-law, Helen Hampsten and Leona Hampsten; four grandchildren, Neil Wilson of Austin, Texas, Kirk Wilson of Seattle, Wash., Sarah Hampsten of Humboldt and James Hampsten of Charleston; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Loren Barnes and Wayne Barnes; and sisters, Opal Brown and Jennie Barnes.
