NEWTON —
Dale E. “Peach” Kerner, 61, of Newton, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services celebrating Dale’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. Tim Pearce officiating. Burial will be in Brockville Cemetery, rural Newton. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 8, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Crossroads Cancer Center. Dale, better known as “Peach,” was born June 26, 1951, in Ypsilanyi, Mich., the son of Lorene and Barbara (Dawson) Kerner. He married Karen Bilyew on Oct. 28, 1972.
Peach retired from CIPS Power Plant near Newton after many years of service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Newton, former member of Winterrowd Masonic Lodge 664 in Dieterich and had been a Shriner.
Peach had been an avid coon hunter and enjoyed bowling and softball. Since his retirement, he spent a lot of his time boating on the Ohio River in Golconda.
Peach is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Kerner of Newton; mother and stepfather, Barbara and Wayne Barker of Louisville; three children, Chad (Deanna) Kerner of Arcola, Brent (Janet) Kerner of Effingham and Michelle (fiance, Greg Dedrick Jr.) Monroe of Newton; six grandchildren, Coady Kerner, Jade Monroe, Caleb Kerner, Damien Pierce, Christina Kerner and Caden Kerner; and brothers, Dean Kerner of Flora and Dennis (Louise) Kerner of Xenia.
Dale was preceded in death by his father, Loren Dean Kerner.
