MASON —
Imogene “Jeanie” Winkler, 85, of rural Mason went to be with Jesus at 6:18 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harvest United Methodist Church, Edgewood, with burial to follow in Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour prior to service time Saturday. Memorials are requested to the church. Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, is in charge of arrangements.
Jeanie was born March 16, 1927, in Mead, Okla., the daughter of Samuel and Jesse (Sweeney) McKnight. She married Carl Winkler on July 15, 1944, in Effingham, and he survives.
She was a housewife, member of Harvest United Methodist Church, Sunday school teacher, lay speaker, member of the Rebecca’s, 4-H leader, election judge for many years and avid walker. Jeanie’s family was very important to her and she loved her church family also.
Surviving are her husband, Carl of Mason; children, Deborah (Paul) Nelson of Edgewood and Mark (Carolyn) Winkler of Alhambra; grandchildren, Josh (Heather) Nelson, Abby (fiance, Dustin Thompson) Nelson, Caitlin Winkler and Lucas Winkler; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Nelson, Colton Nelson and Weston Nelson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Rudolph and Frank McKnight; and sister-in-law, Beulah McKnight.
