EDGEWOOD —
Marilyn “Sue” Buhrmann, 77, of Edgewood, went to her heavenly home at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, in her home.
A celebration of life service will be held in honor of Sue at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, with visitation to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Sue requested donations be made to the Sue Buhrmann Memorial Fund for distribution by her family to various organizations.
Sue was born Sept. 7, 1935, in Piatt County, to Harry and Ruth (Wittig) Alexander. She was joined in Holy matrimony to Garry Buhrmann “Grandpa” in March 1986.
Sue was well remembered from the Kinmundy IGA, where she served as manager for 20 years. She enjoyed visiting with people, especially children. She loved the outdoors and on any given day, could been seen out taking her walk. Sue loved the Lord and while healthy, never passed up the opportunity to get closer to God by attending various church services throughout the area.
Sue was a beloved member of Full Gospel Church in Edgewood, but also enjoyed worshiping at Keens Chapel and Lighthouse Ministry. Sue will be remembered for her faith, laughter, joy of life, upbeat spirit and independence, the same independence and strong will that she proudly instilled in her daughters. Sue will one day be reunited with her loving friend, caregiver and husband, Garry Buhrmann.
The Lord blessed Sue with three daughters, Connie Smith of Ivesdale, Becky Wiley (husband Lee) Melton of Flora and Sherri Wood of Edgewood; and two stepchildren, Chuck Buhrmann of Greenville, Texas, and Christina Wells of Plano, Texas. Sue hopes to be reunited someday with her grandchildren, Amy (Terry) Meeks, Audra Wiley, Joe Smith, Kim Melton, Jessica Smith, Joanna Franks, Jason Burhmann and Mellisa Buhrmann; and three great-grandchildren. She also hopes to one day be reunited with her surviving siblings, Annabelle Golden, Helen Koss and Howard Alexander.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law, Gary Smith.
