EFFINGHAM —
Joyce M. French, 74, of Effingham, entered into eternal life at 10:11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, with the Rev. Shannon Bopp officiating. Burial will be in Tolliver Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Effingham County Relay for Life. Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Joyce was born on Sept. 14, 1938, in Effingham, the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Walls) Blankenship. She married Gary Cleeton in 1958. She later married T.G. “Lonnie” French in 1986, and he preceded her in death in 1997.
Joyce was a homemaker. She had a housecleaning business for many years, serving several businesses and families in the Effingham and Louisville communities. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, family genealogy and visiting with family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her son, Kenneth L. (Lillie) Cleeton of Effingham; daughter, Kathi (Dennis) Vaughn of Altamont; grandchildren, K.L. Cleeton of Effingham, Kyler Cleeton of Effingham, Denny (Kristin) Vaughn of Cowden, Ashlie (Matt) Schmitz of Pana, Danielle Vaughn of Altamont, and Wyatt Vaughn of Altamont; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kendyl and Griffin Vaughn. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Nicco, and he was her constant and faithful companion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie; one brother; and three sisters.
