EFFINGHAM —
Georgia “Jo” Esker, 76, of Effingham, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, with the Rev. Robin May officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Nov. 2, and also from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Georgia was born on July 6, 1936, in Chicago, the daughter of Ralph Aubrey and Lorna Doone (Boose) Jackson. She married Raymond H. Esker on Oct. 27, 1954, in Springfield, and he survives. Georgia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved gospel music and Christian ministries.
Georgia is survived by her husband, Raymond H. Esker of Effingham; children, Lori (Robert) Smothers of Effingham, Ralph Esker of Effingham and Julie (Duane) May of Greenwood, Ind.; grandchildren, Christina Pruett, Angela McDaniel, Jennifer Hale, Michael Esker, Amanda Rodriguez, Rachel Parkerson and Rebecca May; great-grandchildren, Caydin Vaughn, Madison McDaniel, Makala McDaniel, Emily Hale, Nathan Hale, Devon Rodriguez, Jeremy Irish and Layla Irish; and sisters, Anita (Clifford) Mason of Decatur and Elna Jenkins of Mattoon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson.
