EFFINGHAM —
Marjorie D. Nix, 91, died at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Olney, with the Rev. Jerry Wirth officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olney. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Olney. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School or Olney Public Library. She was born April 29, 1921, in Richland County, the daughter of Leo Joseph Dehlinger and Louise Marie Fiock. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Marjorie grew up on a farm in Preston Township and graduated from Olney Township High School in 1939, after which she graduated from Sanford Brown Business College in St. Louis. She married Leo George Nix on Nov. 22, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He died Nov. 10, 1993. She worked as a stenographer and last worked at Country Mutual Insurance Co. and retired after 35 years of service. Marjorie loved reading, poetry, painting and her cats. Marjorie was the founding member of Tops Club IL 1374 and a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by sons, Tom (Joyce) Nix of Olney, Frank (Joanie) Nix of Jasper, Ala., and Brad (Joanna) Nix of Olney; daughters, Beverly (Don) Thoele of Effingham, Ramona (Mike) Suba of Winnemucca, Nev., Phyllis (John) Kiefer of Franklin, Ky., Marita (John) Boyce of Wildwood, Mo., and Teresa (Ken) Fincher of Elburn; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Alvin Dehlinger; one infant son, David; and son, Ron Nix.
