TOLEDO —
Scot Lionel Harmon, 49, of rural Toledo, passed away at 8:54 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Barkley Funeral Chapel, 300 North Kentucky St., Greenup. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Toledo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Online condolences can be expressed at www.barkleyfuneralchapels.com.
Scot was born on Jan. 20, 1964, in Champaign, the son of Ivan and Leota (Richardson) Harmon. He married Beth Flood on Sept. 30, 2006. Scot had worked for Consolidated Communications in Mattoon for 25 years and was a mainframe system administrator. Scot earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. Scot was a caring, devoted father and deeply loving husband. He never met a stranger and gave of himself so freely. Scot selflessly volunteered his time with many organizations. He was a YMCA member and youth basketball coach and was a long time member and chairperson at the Special Olympics Family Festival. He was an Iverson A. Lumpkin Pioneer Club member and he attended the Family Worship Center in Mattoon.
He is survived by his wife; son, Zack Harmon; stepchildren, Breanna Robey and Johnny Robey; brother, Alan Harmon (wife, Debbie) of Mahomet; stepmother, Velma Harmon of Savoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and half brothers Gary, Jerry and Marty Brown.
