Rita Ann Welker, 71, of Watson died at 8:21 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, March 9, at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, with the Rev. Robert Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Baptist Children’s Home, c/o BCHFS, 949 Co. Road 1300 North, Carmi, IL 62821. Rita was born on Thursday, Feb. 12, 1942, in Effingham, to Gaylord and Bertha (Riley) White. She married Gordon Welker on Jan. 11, 1960, and he survives. She was retired from Fedders USA, Effingham, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Blue Point Baptist Church, rural Effingham.
Also surviving are her sons, Troy (Kathy) Welker of Effingham and Michael (Susan) Welker of Pueblo, Colo.; her daughters, Diana (Ed) Roman of Carlisle, Pa., and Tracey (Jeff) Tonn of Watson; her brothers, Robert (Laura) White of Watson and Duane (Linda) White of Mason; her sisters, Mary (Larry) Cline of Watson, Sharon (Ray) Casselman of Altamont and Shirley Filer of Watson and her 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Dacia.
