ROBINSON —
James Edward "Jim" Griffith, 62, of Robinson, died at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.
Memorials services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, with Steve Greiner officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Songer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.goodwinefuneralhomes.com.
He was born Feb. 24, 1950, in Mattoon, the son of Carl and Alberta Bright Griffith. An NCHS graduate, Jim was a self-employed contractor and former Marathon transport driver. He farmed for many years in Jasper County. Jim was a member of the Jasper County Board and School Board, as well as Crawford County ABATE. He was a 4-H leader as well as the youth group leader at White Oak Christian Church, of which he was a member. Jim married Patricia Westjohn on Aug. 6, 1997, and she survives.
He is also survived by his two children, Brian (Melisa) Griffith of Hidalgo, and Dora Griffith of Newton; stepson, Joshua Croft of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; two grandsons, Clayton Woodard and Cameron Griffith; stepgranddaughter, Emily Croft; mother, Alberta Finn of Newton; brother, Carl (Judy) Griffith of rural Newton; sister, Sharon (Kenny) Tate of Newton; brother, Johnny (Verna) Griffith of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie; sisters, Linda and Shirley; his father; and his stepson, Justin Croft.
