Margaret Jean Bernadini, 89, of Effingham, formerly of Neoga, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Effingham Rehabilitation & Health Center, Effingham.
As the request of Margaret Jean her body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home, Neoga, is in charge of arrangements. Jean was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Shelby County, the daughter of Gaylord W. and Carrie M. (Bodine) Martin. She married Geno J. Bernadini on June 22, 1975, in Mattoon, and he passed away Dec. 7, 1994. Jean was a seamstress for Kern Manufacturing Co., Neoga, for 30 years and then she retired from Mattoon Garment Factory after 20 years of service.
Jean leaves two brothers, Glenn Martin and wife, Lillian, of Montrose and Donald Martin of Neoga; four sisters, D. June Grunloh and Pauline Verdeyen of Effingham, Shirley Stateler of Greenup and Grace Winings and husband, Leroy, of Mattoon; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bernadini was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Geno Bernadini; two brothers, Bobby Dean Martin and Earl Bodine; and one sister, Gwendolyn Mayhall.
