ALTAMONT —
M. Virginia “Ginny” Quandt, 91, of Altamont died at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, with the Rev. Clayton Vail officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center Heart to Heart or the donor’s choice. Ginny was born on Friday, Jan. 13, 1922, in Altamont to Louis R. and Frances (Kuhns) Roedell. She married Henry E. Quandt on June 7, 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1996. She was a homemaker and assisted on the family farm. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Effingham County Home Extension and Illinois Farmers Union.
She is survived by her sons, Larry (Peg) Quandt of Altamont, Henry L. Quandt of Mason; her daughters, Gloria (Lyle) Buzzard of St. Elmo and Sandy (Jon) Otterson of Madison, Wis.; her brother, Louis R. (Ruth) Roedell of Mount Horeb, Wis.; her sisters, Colleen Maslowski of Zion, Elaine DeLuca of Sebring, Fla., and Pat Benton of Double Springs, Ala.; her 10 grandchildren, Tina (Dave) Riggle, Lynn (Brian) Woodard, Sean Mackin, Ryan (Michelle) Mackin, J.R. (Tara) Quandt, Jennifer (Kevin) Wendling, Dean (Sandy) Buzzard, Mindy (Shane) Healy, Elizabeth (Tony) Evans and Suzanne (Chad) Head and 16 great-grandchildren and three great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Karen Mackin, brother, Lawrence Roedell, sister, Yvonne Fuesting and granddaughter, Annette Otterson.
