DIETERICH —
Robert Lawrence Ebeling, 68, of Dieterich, passed away at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services celebrating Robert’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Blake-Wright Funeral Home, Dieterich, with the Rev. Gary Fortkamp officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Crossroads Cancer Center or the Dieterich Education Foundation. Robert was born Feb. 15, 1944, in Effingham, the son of Walter and Minnie Rowena (Rawlings) Ebeling. Robert worked for many years as a truck driver for Yellow Freight. Robert graduated from Dieterich High School and he enjoyed sports and playing basketball, baseball, softball and running track. He also loved the outdoors and spent time hunting, fishing and gardening and woodworking. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club and a past member of the Jasper County Coon Hunter Club. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Dieterich.
Survivors include children, Kim Carter of Effingham, Cindy (Todd) Pike of Effingham, Randy (Danee) Ebeling of Newton, Robert H. Ebeling of Newton and Dianna (Mike) Mahnke of Dieterich; brother, Dennis Ebeling (special friend, Paulette) of Newton; sister, Beverly Fritcher of Dieterich; and 11 grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Ebeling; and sister, Shirley Hord.
