Robert L. “Bob” Lewis, 65, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at his home.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, with the Rev. Randy Young officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Loves Park VFW Post 9759. He was born April 21, 1947, in Effingham, the son of Marvin and Kathryn Lewis. He married Barbara Boyd on April 25, 1987, in Rockford. Bob worked many years for the Rockford Park District and more than 20 years for the Winnebago County states attorney. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War, serving in the 26th Artillery Unit and was a proud member of the Loves Park VFW Post 9759. The family wishes to thank all his friends at Loves Park VFW and the Winnebago County States Attorneys office. Bob loved serving America whether it was over seas or here at home.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three daughters, Anne (Scott) Shaw of Seattle, Kathryn of Rockford and Elisabeth of Rockford; brothers, Marvin (Sharen) Lewis of Rockford and Jack (Sharon) Lewis of Effingham.
He was predeceased by his parents.
