EFFINGHAM —
JoAnn Allen, 65, of Effingham, passed away at 6:06 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, with burial in Brown Cemetery, rural Edgewood. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 26, at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society.
JoAnn was born Sept. 25, 1947, in Clay County, the daughter of James D. and G. Lorine (Landreth) Hites.
She was a personal assistant for the State of Illinois and enjoyed reading.
Surviving are her children, Melissa Allen and John Allen II of Effingham; brothers, Edgar "SonnyÓ (Reida) Hites of Altamont, Larry Hites of Farina and Kenneth Landreth of Kenosha, Wis.; sisters, Georgia (Noel) Simmons of Mason and Ruby (Marvin) Higgenbothem of Farina; and granddaughter, Jessica Jean of LaClede.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers, James "Red" Hites and Glen Hites.
