ST. ELMO —
Joseph A. Sinclair, 89, of St. Elmo, entered eternal rest at 7:21 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 15, at C & A Pagel Funeral Home, St. Elmo. Burial with military rites by the St. Elmo American Legion Post 420 will be in Maplewood Cemetery, St. Elmo. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to Alzheimer's Association, St. Elmo Library or the donor choice.
Joseph was born on Feb. 18, 1923, in Detroit, the son of Joseph F. Kroll and Blanche Irene (McCoy) Kroll. He was adopted by Ralph A. and Nora Sinclair. He married Vivian "Vicki" Juanita Nelson on June 20, 1947, in Crawford County, Palestine.
Joseph worked in the oil fields, was a farmer in the St. Elmo area, a carpenter at St. Elmo Lumber Yard, and loved to fish, read, boating and playing cards. A member of the American Legion Post 420 and Farm Bureau. Joseph was in the Navy during World War II. He graduated with the Class of 1935 from Beecher City High School.
Surviving including his wife of 65 years, Vicki of St. Elmo; sons, Ronald (wife, Carol) of St. Elmo and Gerald (wife, Paula) of Seymour, Ind.; daughter, Cynthia (husband, Kent) Wiedman of Effingham; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; adopted parents; adopted sister, Fleeta Potter; and great-grandson, Andrew Tharp.
