Earl Volpert

PERCY —     Earl L. Volpert, 69, of Percy, formerly of Effingham, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, with the Rev. Alan Kornacki officiating. Burial will be in Percy Village Cemetery, Percy. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Wilson’s Funeral Home in Steeleville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Prairie Heart Institute at St. John’s or the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be left at www.wilsonsfuneralhome.net.

    Earl was born May 21, 1943, in Belleville, the son of John E. and Devona Steele Volpert. Earl married Helen I. Rees on Feb. 26, 1966, at Campbell Hill. He was a supervisor for World Color Press. Earl was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill and several different BASS Clubs.

    Earl is survived by his wife, Helen I. Volpert of Effingham; one brother-in-law, Bernard Rees of Pinckneyville; one sister-in-law, Fay (Robert) Vogt of Campbell Hill; and nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

    Earl was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Greg Volpert; and one brother.
