EFFINGHAM —
Robert Lee Mason, 76, of Effingham, went to be with the Lord at 3:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Heritage Health of Pana.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, with Dr. Roger Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in rural Effingham. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday before the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Robert was born on Jan. 4, 1936, in Effingham, the son of Noah and Flora (Smith) Mason.
Robert retired from Fedders Corporation in Effingham, where he worked as a welder for many years. He was an enthusiast of vintage music and cars. His favorite hobby was a nightly cruise through the used car lots and taking inventory. Robert had a special fondness for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Julie (Jim) Hendricks of Pana; grandchildren, Denny (Kristin) Vaughn of Cowden, Ashlie (Matt) Schmitz of Pana, and Matt Rauch of Pana; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kendyl, and Griffin Vaughn all of Cowden, and Kylie Rauch of Cowden; brothers, Clifford (Anita) Mason of Decatur, Nolan Mason of Decatur, Larry (Margie) Mason of Decatur, Gary (Sue) Mason of Decatur, and Leonard (Sheryl) Mason of Decatur; sister, Sharon Giesler of Effingham; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kathryn Pendergast and family of Effingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra Mason; brothers, Ronnie Mason and Tommy Mason; and sister, Linda Mills.
