TOLEDO —
Henry “Ray” Smith, 71, of Toledo, passed away at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkley Funeral Chapel, Toledo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Toledo Cemetery. Ray was born in Decatur, on Dec. 4, 1941, the son of Raymond and Mabel (Simmons) Smith. He married Linda Beaulieu on Nov. 14, 1998. Ray worked in the plumbing and heating business for 25 years in the Toledo area. He later worked for Horizon Transportation Corp., delivering motorhomes all across the country. In the past, he also was a volunteer driver for the Toledo Ambulance Service. Ray was an avid pool player belonging to the TAP and APA pool leagues. He was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church, Toledo.
Surviving is his wife; children, Diane (Homer Jesse) Starwalt of Hidalgo, Don Smith of Toledo, Jim (Jamie) Smith of Toledo, and Trish Smith (fiance, David Welsh) of Sullivan; stepchildren, Lindsay (Bobby) Stone of Flora and Levi Whitehurst of Newton; brothers, Delmer Smith of Peoria and Virgil Smith of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Michelle (Seth) Elliott, Becky Starwalt, Devin Waldhoff, Branden Waldhoff, Lily Smith, Tyler Smith and Lucas Smith; stepgrandchildren, Mikayla Whitehurst, Gavin and Lillyan Stone; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Henry Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Freda and Martha; and one brother, Vernon.
