Virginia Carol Newton, 74, of Xenia, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012.
The memorial for Carol will be at the Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with visitation on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in the Independent Order of Oddfellows Cemetery in Xenia. For those who wish to make a charitable contribution in lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Clay County Health Department Hospice Service. Carol was born Jan. 27, 1938, the daughter of Paul and Mildred (Gabbert) Anderson. She married Kenneth Lee Newton on Feb. 23, 1958, at Zion Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, Lee of Xenia; son, Mark of Holland, Mich., with his wife Jean and children Erin, Jesse, and Nicole; daughter, Kay of San Diego, Calif., with children Ariana and Anthony; son, Darryl of Newton, with his wife Kris and son Levi; and sisters Phyllis Shidaker, Doris Songer, Judy Mearns, Alice Williams and Marsha Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Carol was a member and past Regent of the Vinsans Trace Chapter of the National Society Of The Daughters Of The American Revolution, the Laureate Alpha Zeta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the First United Presbyterian Church in Flora.
