EDGEWOOD —
Norman F. Taylor, 77, of Edgewood, entered eternal rest at 6:18 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at his home in the care of Sarah Bush Hospice and his family.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, with burial in the Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to donor’s choice.
Norman was born on May 31, 1935, the son of James Lindsay and Mary Lucinda (Southwood) Taylor in Utica. He married Carol Marie Mercer on Feb. 14, 1958, at Madison Ave. Methodist Church, Peoria. He was a retired journeyman machine repairman working 32 years at Sunstrand-Sauer-Danfoss in La Salle. Norman was a proud member of L. P. class of 53 for which he played football center, but, he graduated from Ottawa High School. He attended the Puru Church of the Nazarene, past financial secretary for U.A.W. Local 285 for 15 years, secretary for Moose Lodge of Peru, member of the Eagles of Belleview, Wa., and S.A.L. member of the Edgewood American Legion Post 1168, Edgewood. He was an avid hunter-fisherman and enjoyed genealogy, tracing his Taylor and Southwood families to the late 1700’s.
Surviving are his wife, Carol of Edgewood; children, Paula (Brad) Hess of Monmouth, Cindy (Duane) Duncan of Marseilles, Phillip Gregory (Willa) Taylor of Eagle Grove, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many numerous family and friends in the La Salle/Peru, Ottawa, Utica, and Edgewood areas.
Norman was the youngest of 12 children and was preceded in death by his parents; son, Norman Richard Taylor on Dec. 3, 2009; seven brothers; and four sisters.
