Genevieve F. Bunton, 81, of Newton, passed away at 7:37 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.
Funeral services celebrating Genevieve’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, with Bill Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Cemetery, near Falmouth. Genevieve was born March 24, 1931, in Effingham, the daughter of Elmer and Bertha (James) French. She married Glennard Bunton on June 30, 1949, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2010. Genevieve was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Wheeler Christian Church and enjoyed gardening.
Genevieve is survived by three sons, Michael (Diane) Bunton of Newton, Randall (Barb) Bunton of Dundas and Jimmy (fiancee, Linnie Charlton) Bunton of Hammond, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Glenda Bunton of Newton; brother, Basil French of Decatur; sister, Irma Lee (Ray) Ferguson of Newton; seven grandchildren, Holly (Chad) Farley, Evan (Ashley) Bunton, Merissa (Matt) Brown, Elizabeth Bunton, Marsha Schuster, Dale (Crystal) Bunton and Kris Bunton; and 11 great-grandchildren, Cole, Ross and Luke Farley, David, Kelly and Payton Schuster, Owen and Kaylee Bunton, Tyler, Brooke and Austin Bunton.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Bunton; grandson, Garrett Bunton; and sister, Freda Wetherholt.
