Mary M. Bushue, 72, of Mason, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:28 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham. A family led rosary will be at 3:30 p.m. with a parish wake service to follow. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood. Memorials are requested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the family.
She was born on Jan. 29, 1940, in Effingham County, the daughter of Ed and Lena (Buenker) Feldhake. She attended St. Anthony Grade School and High School before marrying Jerry Franklin Bushue on May 9, 1959, at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham. Together they farmed and raised five children in rural Mason. Jerry preceded her in death on May 24, 2006. Mary worked on the farm alongside her husband, was a homemaker, and retired from St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in 2004. She enjoyed crafting, loved her knitting class, reading good books, traveling, and enjoyed weekly Sunday night dinners at her home surrounded by her family.
Surviving are her four remaining children; Terri (Gary) Meyers of Effingham, Ed Bushue of Mason, Sandy (Jeff) Lewis of Effingham, and Michael (Mary) Bushue of Mason. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and she leaves 13 grandchildren; Jami (Kurt) Davis, Ciara Meyers, Stephanie (Justin) Smith, Erica and Kayla Bushue, Zach Lewis, Brian and Aaron Meyers, Payton and Carter Bushue, Sandra Prather, and Jonathan and Kayla Bushue. The littlest loves of her life were six great-grandchildren; Ashlyn and Taylor Davis, Ian and Rylin Smith, and Elizabeth and John Lee Prather Jr. She also leaves behind her last remaining sibling; Richard (Donna) Feldhake of Effingham.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Greg and Keith Bushue; and six siblings.
