EFFINGHAM —
Pauline M. Probst, 87, of Effingham, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, rural Dieterich (Bishop Creek), with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church with a 3:30 p.m. Council of Catholic Women rosary and a 7 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help or the Franciscan Missionary Union. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family with arrangements. Pauline was born June 1, 1925, in Effingham, the daughter of Aloysius and Frances (Willenborg) Haarmann. She married Eugene A. Probst on May 20, 1950.
He and Pauline have lived on their rural Effingham farm for more than 62 years. Pauline was a member of the St. Isidore Parish, St. Isidore Council of Catholic Women and the Third Order of Franciscans in Teutopolis.
Pauline is survived by her husband, Eugene of rural Effingham; three sons, Frank (Darcilene) of Santarem, Brazil, South America, Earl (Mary Jo) of Dieterich and Steve of Effingham; four daughters, Sister Connie Probst OSF, Franciscan Sister of Our Lady of Perpetual Help of St. Louis, Margie (Tom) Deters of Sigel, Donna (Bob) Lueken of Effingham and Carol Jean (Bruce) Bueker of Sigel; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy (Eugene) Westendorf and Verena Kemme; four sisters-in-law, Phyllis Haarman, Stella Probst, Adeline Probst and Theresa Probst; and brother-in-law, Francis Wente.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; grandchild, James E. Bueker; and siblings, Albert, Aloys, Laura Haarmann and Florence Goldstein.
