Paul Francis Harris, 62, of Willow Hill, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services celebrating Paul’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Scott Avenue Christian Church, Newton, with Mark Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ste. Marie, with full military rites by Ste. Marie Post 932 American Legion. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 12 at the church. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Lincolnland. Paul was born on Nov. 4, 1949, in Effingham, the son of Harold and Mary (Ochs) Harris. He married Sue Marlene Stagner on March 11, 1972, in La Jolla, Calif. Paul served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Paul was a lifelong farmer. He began farming with his dad and later with his wife and family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sue Harris of Willow Hill; mother, Mary Harris of Naples, Fla.; father, Harold Harris of Oblong; three children, Michelle Elaine (Shad) Shepston of Denver, Colo., Michael Paul (Amy) Harris of Ste. Marie and Mark William (Rachel) Harris of Mattoon; 10 grandchildren, Aidan, Kiera, Gabrielle and Julian Shepston of Denver, Colo., Tristan, Colby, Adrian and Sadie Harris of Ste. Marie, Anthony and Ryan Harris of Mattoon; one brother, Robert (Kathy) Harris of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Carol (Walt) Traitor of Lakeland, Fla., and Anita (Richard) Kocher of Oblong.
Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents.
