EFFINGHAM —
Bertha Marie Will, 84, of rural Effingham, passed away surrounded by her family at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, rural Effingham (Green Creek), with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, with a 6 p.m. parish rosary. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or the donor’s choice. Bertha was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Green Creek, the daughter of Henry and Frances (Schumacher) Schabbing. She married LeRoy J. Will on Aug. 16, 1952, in Green Creek. Bertha was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Council of Catholic Women and Effingham Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 720. Bertha was a homemaker and was a school cook for the Teutopolis school district, retiring after 18 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and dancing with her husband.
Bertha is survived by her devoted husband, LeRoy; four children, Donna (Dick) Rhodes of Effingham, Carol Beccue of Fairfield, Mike (Cheryl) of Sigel and Mark (Andrea) of Effingham; seven grandchildren, Travis and Cortney Rhodes, Kristina (Sean) Vaughn, Dylan, Bryce and Ryan (Keisha) Beccue and Connor Will; three great-grandchildren, Klaira and Jake Vaughn and Carter Beccue; and sister-in-law, Lucy Probst of Wheeler.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Helen Ungrund.
The Will family wishes to extend our deepest thanks to the wonderful staff at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care they gave Bertha these past few years.
