Gerald L. “Gary” Roedl, 71, of Altamont, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, with Pee Wee Denton officiating. Burial will be in St. Clare Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.giesekingfh.com.
Gerald Louis Roedl was born on Sunday, Dec. 28, 1941, in rural Mason, Effingham County, to Louis S. and Norma M. (Denton) Roedl. He had worked for a number of years as a delivery route driver for the Coca-Cola Company in Arizona, and upon moving back to Illinois, was driver for Miller-Overton Trucking in Mattoon. He was affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.
Gary is survived by his son, Vance Roedl (Mindy) of Safford, Ariz.; daughter, Natalie Reynolds (John) of Safford, Ariz.; grandchildren, Vincent Peru, Brittany Jackson, Carsyn Reynolds and Tyler Roedl; brothers, Steve Roedl and wife, Deb, of Peotone, Bob Roedl of Altamont, Terry Roedl and wife, Sherri, of Edgewood, Tim Roedl of Altamont and Dan Roedl and wife, Janet, of Altamont; sisters, Beverly Harris and husband, Art, of Altamont, Teresa Arledge and husband, Don, of Eclectic, Ala., Rita Schuster and husband, Don, of Springfield, Ohio, Nancy Mason and husband, Glen, of Altamont, Deb Stone of Altamont and Patty Kelly of Baldwyn, Miss.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gale E. “Butch” Roedl; and two sisters in infancy.
