June L. Brown, 75, of Grayslake, formerly of Watson, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Marshak Family Hospice Pavilion, Glenview.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Watson United Methodist Church, Watson, with the Rev. Carroll W. Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 4, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, is assisting the family with arrangements. June was born June 29, 1937, in Watson, the daughter of Lee and Nellie L. (Campton) James Sr. She married J. Wayland Brown on June 23, 1957, in Watson, and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1991.
June was a lifelong Methodist. She loved going to the theatre, dining out, reading and garage sailing. June was a fabulous cook and baker, and a model homemaker. She loved her daughters, grandchildren, extended family and many friends. She will be greatly missed.
June is survived by her daughters, Lea Ann (Duncan) Skogsberg of Yorkville and Lynne Gaska of Streamwood; grandchildren, Megan Gaska and Richard Skogsberg; mother-in-law, Frances Brown, formerly of Altamont; sisters, Doris (William) Percival of Effingham and Vivian (Larry) Cain of Mason; brother, Lee "Bud" (Elsie) James Jr. of Watson; sister-in-law, Dee Henry of Maryland Heights, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Wayland.
