Larry Aden "Hotdog" Horath, 71, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet, with the Rev. Daniel Davis officiating. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 11, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Ingalls Park United Methodist Church will be appreciated.
Larry was born Dec. 31, 1941, in Dieterich. He attended Effingham and Oblong high schools. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1993 after 33 years of service.
He was a 47-year member of Joliet Matteson Lodge 175 A.F & A.M. Larry loved spending time with family and friends, as well as being outdoors, fishing, hunting deer or mushrooms.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret E. Horath (nee Wall); children, Robert (Dee) Horath, Cathy (Christopher) Brockett, Debbie Curry and Brian Horath, all of Joliet; sister, Peggy Cutright; seven grandchildren, Kelli Brockett, Lisa (Brian) Hushaw, Tara (Adam) Kern, Bradley Horath, Ryan Horath, and Kevin and Stacie Curry; eight great-grandchildren, Raylen Brockett, Rayyed Hasan, Aden, Jessie, Brian Jr., and Jackie Hushaw, Lily Horath and Tyler Kern; brother-in-law, Tom (Anna Marie) Wall; and special nephews, Jeff (LeSahlle), Tim (Laura) and Mike (Michelle) Cutright and Lovell (Shelley) and Wayne Hatfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovell A. and Neva (nee McCallen) Horath; two sisters, Joyce Horath and Bessie Hatfield; brother-in-law and friend Ronald Cutright.
