EFFINGHAM —
Joelene Becker, 74, of Effingham, passed away at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham, with Dr. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church Building Fund. Joelene was born on Nov. 9, 1938, in Monroe City, Ind., the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Wyantt) Wheeler. She married Jack Becker in 1960 in Vincennes, Ind., and he survives.
Joelene was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. After 26 years of service, she retired as a nursing assistant from St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Joelene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Joelene is survived by her husband, Jack Becker of Effingham; son, Jon (Susan) Becker of Mattoon; sister, Carol Devine of Vincennes, Ind.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.
