Irene B. Ford, 72, of Mattoon, formerly of Trilla, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Mattoon Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home, Neoga, with the Rev. Toby Davis of Trilla and the Rev. John Morgan of Bloomingdale, Ind., officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.swengel-odell.com. Irene was born Nov. 11, 1939, in Atwood, the daughter of Wayne and Ruth (Roberts) Appleby. She married Paul Ford Jr. on Aug. 18, 1961, in Trilla, and Mr. Ford passed away March 20, 2008. Irene was a member of Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Trilla; she was a homemaker; and she was a former employee of Brady’s Store in Trilla, IGA in Mattoon, and she did a lot of babysitting.
Irene leaves one brother, Norman Appleby of Mattoon; two sisters, Martha Morgan (husband, John) of Bloomingdale, Ind., and Linda Ellmore of Kokomo, Ind.; two nieces, Penny Davies (husband, Jeff) of Bloomingdale, Ind., and Pamela Unger (husband, Scott) of Logansport, Ind.; one nephew, Michael Morgan (wife, Amy) of Delaware, Ohio; one special aunt, Pat Appleby of Arthur; stepmother, Thelma Appleby of Olney; and several cousins.
