Mrs. Evelyn M. Bishop, 100, of Greenup, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
Funeral services celebrating Evelyn’s life will be held at noon Saturday at Bishop Funeral Home, Greenup, with Tim Pearce officiating. Burial will be in Greenup Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In loving memory of Evelyn, memorials may be made to the Greenup United Methodist Church. Evelyn was born June 9, 1912, in Effingham, the daughter of Edward and Eva (Dillman) Fisher. She married Dale K. Bishop in 1931 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2001. Evelyn and her husband owned and operated Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup, and retired after 55 years of service. They also managed Arndt’s Dime Store in Greenup for 29 years. Evelyn was a member of Greenup United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing needlework, shopping and going on outings with her family and friends. She was a great cook and baker.
Evelyn is survived by two granddaughters, Teresa (Steve) Grissom of Mattoon and Lisa (Gary) Rogers of Greenup; four great-grandchildren, Wade (Pippa) Grissom of London, Emily Grissom of Atlanta, Talia (Vince) Watkins of Arcola and Ted Rogers of Charleston; one great-great-grandchild, Edward Grissom of London; and sister, Ann Rentfro of Effingham.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter and son-in-law Evelyn Ann and Ted Latta; sister, Mary; and brother, Edward.
