Mildred Annalee Upchurch, 85, of Herrin, passed away 4 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Apostolic Faith United Pentecostal Church, 1101 W. 10th St., Johnston City, with the Rev. Michael Glasco and her sons, the Rev. Roy Upchurch and the Rev. Steve Upchurch officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Carterville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, March 22, at Pyle Funeral Home, Johnston City, and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Apostolic United Pentecostal Church in Johnston City or Faith Tabernacle Church in Canton. Annalee was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Blairsville, to George Washington and Eva Mae (Walker) Atterberry. She married Charles P. Upchurch on Sept. 26, 1947, in Herrin. They shared 62 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 2009. She was a faithful member of the Faith Apostolic United Pentecostal Church in Johnston City. Before her children were born, she was employed at the Casing Factory and Norge in Herrin for several years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, teaching Sunday School and working in her rose garden.
Survivors include her six children and their spouses, Judy (Randy) Swindle of Bloomington, Roy (Kathern) Upchurch of Effingham, Steve (Jennifer) Upchurch of Centralia, Fay (Albert) Suarez of Mesquite, Texas, Joy (William) Rutherford of Fort Worth, Texas, and Melody (Fred) Albanito of Canton; 15 grandchildren, Laura (Bill) Agee of Maroa, Kent (Monica) Swindle of Funks Grove, Janet (Randall) Hughes of Yukon, Okla., Alisha (Todd) Ambuhel of Salem, William (Tisha) Upchurch of Punta Gordo, Fla., Heather (Jason) Roesch of Benton, Kyle Upchurch of Benton, Zachary Brandt of Centralia, Ruben Suarez of Mesquite, Texas, Shawna Suarez of Marion, Kristen (Jason) Hargrove of Fort Worth, Texas, Tiffany Rutherford of Fort Worth, Texas, Kristen (Chad) Douglas of Virginia Beach, Va., Katie (Murat) Coskun of Peoria and Victoria Albanito of Canton; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Carrold (Dorothy) Atterberry of Herrin; four sisters, Berniece Vancil, Daisey (Milton) Holland, Peggy (Ray) Crow, all of Herrin, and Shirley (Leland) Spiller of Owings, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rosalie Atterberry; and two brothers, Harrold and Henry Atterberry.
