NEWTON — Sophia Michl, 96, of Newton, formerly of Ste. Marie, died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Newton, with the Rev. Al Kemme officiating. Burial will be in St. Valentine's Cemetery in the Bend, Jasper County. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, is in charge of arrangements.
